Transport Operator

About the Role

Base Location: Thames Valley Region

Salary: £28,072 - £32,605 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

As a Transport Operator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting and delivering chapter 8 (rigid plastic barriers and road signs) from various sites.
  • Ensuring that depots are stocked with chapter 8 materials to facilitate excavation operations while coordinating with colleagues to maintain adequate supplies across depots.
  • Performing driving duties under street works conditions, assisting teams with 4X4 vehicles, vans, lorries, or HIAB cranes to install various equipment on our network.
  • Working outside of regular hours when necessary to support the business in addressing faults during nights and weekends, on a rotational basis.
  • Delivering materials to sites as needed and undertaking any additional related tasks as required.

What do I need?

To be considered for this position, we would appreciate the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar capacity and possession of a full current driving license. HGV Class 2 and HIAB operation experience are desirable but not mandatory, as training can be provided.
  • The role may involve physically demanding tasks and working in various weather conditions; therefore, a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills are essential.
  • NRSWA street works signing and guarding, HIAB training, and/or experience operating machinery with relevant certifications are advantageous but not required.
  • A strong commitment to safety in all tasks and collaboration with your team to foster a robust safety culture.
