Transport Operator

Role Overview

Location: Thames Valley Region

Salary: £28,072 - £32,605 plus a variety of additional benefits to support your family, finances, and overall wellbeing.

Employment Type: Permanent | Full Time

As a Transport Operator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting and delivering chapter 8 (rigid plastic barriers and road signs) from various sites.
  • Ensuring that depots are stocked with chapter 8 materials to facilitate excavation operations while coordinating with colleagues to maintain adequate supplies across depots.
  • Performing driving duties under street works conditions, assisting teams with 4X4s, vans, lorries, or HIAB cranes to install various equipment on our network.
  • Working outside of regular hours when necessary to support the business in addressing faults during the night and on weekends, as part of a rotation.
  • Delivering materials to sites as needed and undertaking any other related tasks as required.

What are we looking for?

To be considered for this position, we would appreciate if you have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and a valid full driving license. HGV Class 2 and HIAB operation experience are advantageous but not mandatory, as training can be provided.
  • A willingness to engage in physically demanding tasks and the ability to work in various weather conditions. A positive attitude and strong teamwork skills are essential.
  • NRSWA street works signing and guarding, HIAB training, or experience operating plant machinery with relevant certifications are beneficial but not required.
  • A strong commitment to safety in all activities and a collaborative approach to fostering a robust safety culture within the team.
