Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the Ward Manager and Modern Matron to oversee the daily operations of the unit and ensure patient safety.

- Supervise all nursing and healthcare assistant staff on the ward, including delegating tasks to junior team members.

- Partner with the Ward Manager to establish objectives for staff and monitor progress through performance reviews.

- Stay informed about current developments in stroke and neuro care, applying critical analysis to enhance ward practices.

- Maintain high standards of practice by engaging in ongoing professional development and training.

Job Duties

- Manage nursing and healthcare assistant staff on the ward, ensuring effective performance and addressing any competency issues.

- Monitor the utilization of temporary staffing and coordinate with the Temporary Staffing Service as needed.

- Oversee staff attendance and manage sickness absence in accordance with organizational policies.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse qualification.
  • Current experience as a Band 5 or higher.

Desirable

  • Leadership training.
  • Teaching and assessing qualifications.
