About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Underwriting Officer to join our client, a leading insurer in the UK market. As a key member of the Underwriting Management function, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company's underwriting strategy and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement underwriting procedures and methodologies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Lead the development of new products and enhancements to existing ones, working closely with stakeholders to understand market needs
  • Oversee the underwriting audit function to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Manage training and skills development for underwriting teams
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers and cover holders
  • Drive strategic portfolio management to optimize business performance
  • Set and deliver underwriting KPIs to measure performance and drive improvement
Requirements
  • Proven experience in the UK commercial underwriting market, with a deep understanding of underwriting policies and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial insurance wordings, product development, underwriting, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive business improvement
