About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Underwriting Officer to join our team at Lawes Consulting Group. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and executing the underwriting strategy to achieve company goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Underwriting Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to set underwriting strategy and goals, and develop and execute plans to achieve them.
  • Lead and Mentor Underwriting Team: Provide leadership and guidance to underwriting team members, and mentor them to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Review and Approve Complex Underwriting Decisions: Review and approve complex underwriting decisions, and ensure that they are in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Analyse Underwriting Performance Metrics: Analyse underwriting performance metrics, and develop action plans to improve underwriting performance.
  • Stay Updated on Industry Developments: Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in underwriting, and apply this knowledge to improve underwriting processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in underwriting and commercial insurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Skills: Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies, strong knowledge of underwriting operations, risk assessment, and pricing models, excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
