Key Responsibilities:
As an environmental safety engineer, you will engage in a diverse array of environmental initiatives, tasked with collecting, evaluating, and reporting environmental data to substantiate the environmental rationale for each submarine project, including:
- Assisting system owners in the design of environmental systems
- Conducting environmental impact assessments and risk evaluations
- Gathering evidence and preparing documentation to support environmental justifications
- Facilitating net zero and carbon management initiatives
- Engaging stakeholders across various organizations and disciplines to fulfill customer requirements for the platform
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Comprehension of sustainability and environmental standards in product design contexts.
- Knowledge of environmental assessments and the identification of environmental factors throughout the product lifecycle
- Capability to analyze environmental and technical data
- Familiarity with net zero and carbon management practices
- Proficient report writing and presentation skills to effectively communicate environmental information
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an Environmental or Sustainability-related field
Desirable:
- General knowledge of one or more of the following: Environmental Management Systems, Materials Science, Environmental Regulations, Waste Management, or Net Zero initiatives
- Experience in the defense sector

About the Environmental Team:
This role presents an exciting opportunity to join the expanding Environmental Team within the organization. You will collaborate with a small team of 7 members, supporting various programs. Interaction with system owners, legislative teams, and sustainability departments, as well as customers, will be a key aspect of your role. Opportunities for further training and career advancement will be available.
