Contract Duration: 12 months
The Principal Product Safety Specialist will assist the Engineering Delivery Manager in the formulation, execution, and upkeep of the Project Product Safety Management Framework and Product Safety Documentation to guarantee that products are secure for ownership and compliant with operational regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
The Principal Product Safety Specialist will:
- Establish and oversee Product Safety specifications.
- Design, execute, and sustain the Safety Management Framework.
- Create and manage Project Safety Management Documentation.
- Lead initiatives for Product Safety hazard identification, management, and evaluation.
- Provide expert Product Safety engineering guidance to the broader organization.
- Supervise the management and administration of the Project Hazard Log.
- Influence the development and execution of the Project Safety Documentation, including Safety Documentation reports.
- Assist in the creation of training materials to facilitate training delivery.
- Conduct training sessions for the Product Safety and Environmental sectors and the wider Morson Talent community.
- Engage with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their needs are thoroughly understood and adequately addressed.
- Generate, present, and articulate coherent and logical technical safety justifications.
- Conduct peer reviews, verification, and assurance tasks to validate the adequacy and integrity of the Safety Documentation and associated materials.
- Oversee and review the work of junior members within the Product Safety team.
- Comprehend the application of broader Safety Documentation, Quality, and Health, Safety & Environment Management System documentation.
- Support relevant meetings and Working Groups.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Facilitate hazard identification meetings.
- Assist in the creation of realistic project status updates, identify challenges, and implement agreed-upon recovery strategies.
- Lead relevant meetings and Working Groups.
Core Accountabilities
- Development and maintenance of the Safety Management Framework, including process updates.
- Preparation of Safety Management Documentation.
- Hazard identification and management.
- Risk evaluation.
- Production of Product Safety documentation.
- Technical report composition.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent qualification.
- Professional chartership or in the process of obtaining.
- Proven knowledge of the design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and testing phases of submarine lifecycles.
- Proficient in MS Office applications – Word, Excel, etc.
- Understanding of the environmental challenges that the product may encounter.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and pinpoint critical factors.
- Capability to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical, and robust safety justifications.
