Substance Use Support Specialist - MWMS Program

Southern Health-Santé Sud is in search of a dedicated Substance Use Support Specialist to become a vital member of the Mobile Withdrawal Management Service (MWMS) team. In this capacity, you will be responsible for evaluating and assisting clients requiring withdrawal management and stabilization services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate clients' physical and mental health during periods of intoxication, withdrawal, and stabilization
  • Deliver client care and services aligned with program objectives and service delivery frameworks
  • Facilitate client access and navigation through available services
  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to effectively address the needs of clients and their families
  • Perform intake assessments, individual counseling, referrals, case management, and group therapy sessions

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification in Core Addiction Practices or equivalent education and training in substance use
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or comparable experience with a minimum of two years in direct counseling
  • Understanding of recovery principles related to substance use disorders
  • Proven ability to navigate complex situations and adapt to rapidly changing environments
