Job Overview

As a Victim Support Specialist, you will serve as the designated and allocated professional providing continuous trauma-informed assistance to individuals affected by crime, through both telephonic and in-person consultations. Your role will involve establishing and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with victims, including adults, children, and adolescents, by offering practical and emotional support tailored to their unique circumstances.

You will empower, inform, and consult with victims to ensure they feel supported through a personalized and comprehensive support plan that addresses their specific risks and needs. Collaboration with various agencies will be essential to create a reliable referral pathway for victims.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver ongoing support services to victims and witnesses who have consented to receive assistance. Manage a diverse caseload that includes children, young individuals, and cases classified as medium to high risk. Act as the assigned and named Caseworker, providing consistent and progressive support to each victim or witness. Collaborate with the Victim Service team to ensure the effective delivery of restorative justice, including educating victims about the restorative justice process and principles.

Qualifications:

As a Victim Support Specialist, you will provide a specialized service to individuals impacted by crime. Your ability to foster high-quality relationships through supportive interactions will be crucial. You will also assist in enhancing the skills and knowledge of your team to better support adults, children, and young people through collaborative casework.
