Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Salaried General Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our primary care team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal medical services to patients, including consultations and examinations
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Participate in practice meetings and contribute to the development of our clinical services
  • Liaise with external authorities as required, including hospitals and other healthcare providers
  • Conform to practice procedures for quality of care, prescribing incentives, and other enhanced services
  • Perform extended hours on a rota basis, including evenings and weekends
  • Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision
  • Participate in practice audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Compile and issue computer-generated prescriptions as required
  • Referral letters for patients seen
  • Cover for other doctors on annual leave or study leave
  • Update and summarize patients' computer records from letters received
  • Teach and supervise students, GP registrars, nurses, and other attached placement doctors as required
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions for improvement

Person Specification

  • Eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS
  • Experience as a GP educator
  • Experience of appraisal in practice or other setting
  • Willing to successfully complete appropriate training for appraisal and remain up to date with the developing GP Appraisal, relicensing, and revalidation agenda
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information in a tactful way
  • Facilitative approach
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, face-to-face, and active listening skills
  • Computer skills familiar with GP-based software, Microsoft Word, and email
