Role Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Rail Operations Manager to oversee our Brighton facility. This pivotal role is tasked with ensuring the effective, safe, and dependable functioning of our operations, managing all facets of maintenance, logistics, and personnel oversight. We welcome experienced managers from various sectors, including aviation, automotive, bus, military, or marine.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Supervise daily operations, ensuring all processes are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards.
  • Team Management: Inspire and guide a team of engineers, technicians, and support personnel. Foster a collaborative work atmosphere that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and ongoing enhancement.
  • Safety Oversight: Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, maintaining compliance with health and safety legislation. Conduct regular evaluations and risk assessments to uphold the highest safety benchmarks.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Oversee and track all maintenance tasks to guarantee that rolling stock remains in optimal condition. Establish preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
  • Financial Oversight: Formulate and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective practices without compromising safety or quality.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, to facilitate seamless operational processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and execute enhancements to operational efficiency and service delivery.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in a managerial capacity within the rail sector, ideally in depot or maintenance operations.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the aptitude to manage and inspire a diverse workforce.
  • Comprehensive understanding of rail safety regulations and maintenance protocols.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to interact proficiently with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in budget management is crucial.
  • A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience is highly advantageous.
