Role Summary:
We are in search of a proactive and skilled Rail Depot Manager to oversee our operations at the Brighton Rail Depot. This pivotal role entails managing the safe, efficient, and dependable functioning of our depot, supervising all facets of maintenance, logistics, and personnel management. We welcome applications from accomplished managers in other sectors such as aviation, automotive, bus, military, or marine.
Core Responsibilities:
- Depot Management: Direct daily operations, ensuring that all processes are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.
- Leadership: Inspire and guide a team of engineers, technicians, and support personnel. Foster a constructive work atmosphere that promotes collaboration, professional growth, and ongoing enhancement.
- Safety Oversight: Supervise all safety measures, guaranteeing adherence to health and safety guidelines. Conduct regular inspections and risk evaluations to uphold the highest safety benchmarks.
- Maintenance Oversight: Organize and supervise all maintenance tasks to ensure that rolling stock remains in optimal condition. Implement preventative maintenance plans to reduce downtime.
- Financial Management: Create and oversee the depot's financial plan, ensuring operations are cost-effective without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Stakeholder Relations: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, suppliers, and regulatory authorities, to facilitate seamless depot operations.
- Process Improvement: Recognize and execute enhancements to processes that boost operational efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in a managerial capacity within the rail sector, ideally in depot or maintenance operations.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of managing and motivating a diverse workforce.
- Comprehensive understanding of rail safety regulations and maintenance protocols.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of effectively engaging with various stakeholders.
- Experience in budget management is crucial.
- A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience is highly preferred.
