Railway Maintenance Technician

As a Technician with Network Rail, you will play a vital role in maintaining the rail network, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of work. You will work outdoors in all weathers, supporting essential maintenance tasks and developing your management skills by deputising for the Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out maintenance and faulting tasks in all weathers
- Develop management skills by deputising for the Team Leader
- Work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance tasks
- Develop technical and non-technical skills through structured training
- Leadership skills - able to lead, motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery
- Effective communication skills - able to deliver clear instructions to the team and other colleagues
- Technical skills - knowledge and experience of inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques in the discipline
- Safety skills - consistently role model safe behaviours, arrange and implement safe systems of work, and challenge if a situation is unsafe
- Problem-solving skills - persistent in finding safe and effective solutions
- Willingness to learn - consistently develop skills and competencies relevant to the discipline
- Relevant qualification - ideally hold an NVQ Level 1 or 2 linked to the discipline, or equivalent level of relevant experience
The Technician role involves a changing shift pattern, including days, nights and weekends. You will work outdoors in all weathers and be comfortable working in different conditions. You will also need a driving licence (category B) to drive Network Rail vehicles and be within a 60-minute commute of the location.
