Role Overview

In this position, you will deliver exceptional electrical engineering expertise to a team of skilled technical professionals. You will actively participate in the Design Engineering team, focusing on modernizing and enhancing existing workflows while introducing innovative solutions to boost organizational performance.

Your responsibilities will include:


• Leading engineering design initiatives and innovations at both central and local levels

• Identifying future prospects to enhance in-house manufacturing capabilities for key engineering design projects

• Advocating for new methodologies to foster in-house capabilities, innovation, and professional development within the engineering domain

• Collaborating closely with maintenance teams to enhance the reliability of the existing automation fleet

• Inspiring and energizing a team of technical specialists to achieve high performance

• Promoting a positive business culture: Be Positive, Be Brilliant, Be Part of It, while fostering professionalism, positivity, and engagement across all areas of Royal Mail Engineering.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should possess a minimum of a level 4 (NVQ or equivalent) qualification in an electrical engineering discipline.

Additionally, candidates should have:


• Experience in detailed product design and development within an automated setting

• A robust engineering background with a proven ability to apply intuitive problem-solving skills and deliver effective solutions

• Proficient knowledge and experience with CAD/CAM software

• Familiarity with design software (e.g., Autodesk)

• A history of meeting product development deadlines and quality standards

• A successful track record of implementing improvements and initiatives in challenging environments
