About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join our Vulnerability Management and Pentesting team at Tesco Technology. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated security-focused engineer to contribute to our expanding organisation.

The role will involve hands-on work with a focus on the availability and reliability of our critical security tooling, while automating operational burden. Our goal is to provide actionable insights into the security posture of our systems and platforms, prioritizing remediation activities for our engineering colleagues and system owners.

As a senior position, you will have the freedom to leverage your knowledge and real-world experience to work with other teams and drive innovation across our prevention, detection, and response capabilities. When major security incidents occur, you will work alongside other security colleagues to bring your expertise to the table.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Detection Capabilities: Develop and enhance our detection, data correlation, and response capabilities in the Vulnerability Management space, contributing to the development of standards and patterns for our engineering community.
  • Tooling and Reporting: Create and maintain tooling and reporting to help manage our external attack surface, ensuring timely and accurate insights for stakeholders.
  • Remediation Efforts: Build capabilities to inform stakeholders on the status and progress of Vulnerability Management remediation efforts across the company, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Automation and Integration: Automate integrations between platforms and tooling, streamlining processes and reducing operational burden.
  • Incident Response and Threat Analysis: Use observations from security incidents and reporting about relevant security threats to contribute to our internal detection engineering programme, enhancing our threat analysis capabilities.
  • Analyst Up-skilling and Pattern Identification: Work alongside analysts to up-skill them in Vulnerability Management, identifying patterns and issues that can be fixed centrally, and contributing to the development of our internal detection engineering programme.
  • POC Assessments and Bug Bounty Program: Conduct POC assessments from our active Bug Bounty Program, ensuring the effectiveness of our security measures and identifying areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working in the IT Security Industry.
  • Experience with responding to security incidents in large-scale corporate environments.
  • A good understanding of Bug Bounty programmes.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Power Shell, Terraform, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of networking, web services, and application testing.
  • Experience with Vulnerability Scanning tools, such as Qualys and Tenable, etc.
  • Keen to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and bringing industry standards to everything we do.
  • Proactive and able to operate independently, comfortable with ambiguity.
