Title: Paraplanner

Department: Financial Planning

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Summary:

As a Paraplanner, you will play a vital role in supporting our team of seasoned Financial Planning Directors within our expanding Newcastle office.

Your primary responsibilities will include crafting and documenting high-quality, client-centric advice, as well as assisting with annual reviews to ensure we deliver exceptional service to our clients.

We provide comprehensive exam support, a hybrid working model, and a nurturing environment that promotes professional growth. You will collaborate with a talented group of financial planners and paraplanners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality advice and service to clients of Rathbones Financial Planning.
  • Prepare cash flow analyses to assist clients in achieving their long-term financial objectives.
  • Attend client meetings alongside Financial Planning Directors, take meeting notes, and conduct necessary research to facilitate advice and reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with Financial Planning Directors and stakeholders to meet the team's income targets.
  • Brief Financial Planning Directors on specific client matters for discussion in meetings and communicate with clients as needed.
  • Work proactively with the Financial Planning Assistant Manager and team members to share best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, templates, and tools to enhance the quality and delivery of client advice.
  • Manage your workload effectively, setting and meeting realistic expectations with Financial Planning Directors and the Assistant Manager.
  • Maintain a practical and commercial approach to workflow management.
  • Contribute positively to the team's success by adopting and promoting new practices.
  • Foster effective working relationships with other departments within Rathbones.
  • Continuously enhance your financial planning knowledge through ongoing education and staying updated on advice standards, legislation, and internal processes.

Qualifications:

  • CII Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent (essential).
  • CII Chartered Financial Planner status (desirable).

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in paraplanning.
  • Experience working within a team of paraplanners under a paraplanning manager.
  • Familiarity with centrally developed tools, templates, and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to manage your own work queue and ensure the quality of output.
  • Strong understanding of the UK tax regime, including Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and Income Tax.
  • In-depth knowledge of various pension arrangements and estate planning aspects.
