Position Title: Paraplanner

Department: Financial Planning

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting To: Financial Planning Assistant Manager

Role Summary:

The Paraplanner will collaborate closely with the Financial Planner and the Client Support Team to ensure a superior client experience throughout the advisory and review process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality advice and service to clients.
  • Assist the Financial Planner in client meetings, prepare detailed meeting notes, and conduct necessary research to support client advice and reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planner and stakeholders to achieve the team's income objectives.
  • Prepare the Financial Planner on specific client matters to be addressed in meetings.
  • Engage with clients to gather information or clarify any issues.
  • Work proactively with the Paraplanning Manager and team members to share best practices.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to processes, templates, and tools to enhance client advisory delivery.
  • Manage personal workload effectively, setting and meeting realistic expectations for advisers and managers.
  • Contribute positively to team success through the adoption of new practices and a collaborative spirit.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with other departments within Rathbones.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge by exploring new developments in taxation, legal, and planning areas.

Qualifications:

  • CII Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent (Essential)
  • CII Chartered Financial Planner status (Desirable)

Experience & Skills:

  • 4-5 years of experience as a Paraplanner.
  • Experience working within a team of paraplanners under a paraplanning manager.
  • Familiarity with centrally developed tools, templates, and guidance.
  • Ability to manage personal work queue and ensure quality output.
  • Strong understanding of the UK tax regime, including CGT, IHIT, and SPLT.
  • In-depth knowledge of various pension arrangements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of estate planning aspects.
