Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting To: Financial Planning Assistant (FPA) Manager

Role Responsibilities:

As a Paraplanner, you will play a crucial role in supporting our esteemed Financial Planning Directors within our expanding Newcastle office. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and delivering high-quality, client-centric financial advice.
  • Preparing detailed cash flow analyses to assist clients in achieving their long-term financial aspirations.
  • Accompanying Financial Planning Directors to client consultations, documenting meeting notes, and conducting necessary research to facilitate informed advice and reviews.
  • Collaborating closely with Financial Planning Directors and relevant stakeholders to meet the team’s income objectives.
  • Providing briefings to Financial Planning Directors on specific client matters for discussion during meetings and maintaining client communication as needed.
  • Engaging proactively with the FPA Manager and team members to share best practices and enhance team performance.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and suggesting enhancements to tools and templates to support the quality of client advice.
  • Managing your workload effectively, setting realistic expectations with Financial Planning Directors and the FPA Manager.
  • Maintaining a pragmatic approach to workflow management.
  • Contributing positively to team success by adopting and promoting innovative practices.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with other departments within Rathbones.
  • Continuously expanding your financial planning expertise through ongoing education and staying updated on industry standards and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • CII Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent (essential).
  • CII Chartered Financial Planner status (desirable).

Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in paraplanning.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a paraplanning team under a paraplanning manager.
  • Familiarity with centralized tools, templates, and guidance.
  • Proven ability to manage your own workload while ensuring high-quality output.
  • Strong understanding of the UK tax system, including Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and Income Tax.
  • In-depth knowledge of various pension schemes and estate planning considerations.
