Department: Financial Planning

Role Summary:

As a Paraplanner, you will play a crucial role in supporting our esteemed Financial Planning Directors in our expanding office.

Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and drafting high-quality, client-centric advice, as well as assisting with annual reviews to ensure exceptional service delivery.

We provide comprehensive exam support, a hybrid working model, and a nurturing environment that fosters professional growth. You will collaborate with a talented team of financial planners and paraplanners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality advice and service to clients of Rathbones Financial Planning.
  • Prepare financial projections to assist clients in achieving their long-term financial aspirations.
  • Accompany Financial Planning Directors to client meetings, take detailed notes, and conduct necessary research for advice and reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with Financial Planning Directors and stakeholders to meet the team's income objectives.
  • Provide briefings to Financial Planning Directors on client matters to be addressed in meetings and communicate with clients as needed.
  • Work proactively with the Financial Planning Assistant Manager and team members to share best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhancements to tools and templates to support the quality of client advice.
  • Manage your workload effectively, setting and meeting realistic expectations with Financial Planning Directors and the Assistant Manager.
  • Maintain a practical and commercial approach to workflow management.
  • Contribute positively to team success by adopting and promoting innovative practices.
  • Foster effective working relationships with other departments within Rathbones.
  • Continuously enhance your financial planning knowledge through ongoing education and staying informed on advice standards and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • CII Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent (required)
  • CII Chartered Financial Planner status (preferred)

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in paraplanning.
  • Experience working within a team of paraplanners alongside a paraplanning manager.
  • Familiarity with centrally developed tools, templates, and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to manage your own workload and ensure high-quality output.
  • Strong understanding of the UK tax system, including Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and Income Tax.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various pension schemes and estate planning.
