Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity exists for a dedicated Band 7 psychological therapist to become a vital member of our dynamic Older Person's Psychology Team within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. This full-time, permanent role involves working across various localities, providing comprehensive mental health services to older adults.
The Older Person's Psychology Team is composed of a collaborative and enthusiastic group of professionals, including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, as well as High Intensity Specialist psychological therapists. We conduct regular conferences throughout the year, allowing psychology teams to convene and exchange best practices and innovative approaches. We maintain strong connections with local training programs, offering consistent training and placement opportunities for Trainees.
This position also serves as a developmental opportunity, with the potential for the role to be offered under specific terms and conditions.
Key Responsibilities
The Older Person's Mental Health services are organized into five distinct areas, each comprising an Older Person's Community Mental Health Team (OPCMHT) and a Memory Assessment Service (MAS). The selected candidate will primarily be based within these teams, adapting to service needs across localities.
The role involves collaboration within established multi-disciplinary teams, contributing specialized psychological knowledge and expertise. This position offers a Band 7 therapist the chance to deliver high-quality psychological therapy services to both the teams and the local population. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments and providing therapy to older adults receiving secondary care mental health services, as well as offering consultation and training to staff within the broader OPCMHT.
Proficiency in the Welsh language is preferred for this role; however, applications are welcome from both Welsh and English speakers.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Master's Level qualification or equivalent level of specialized skills, knowledge, and experience.
- Training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and one additional psychotherapeutic model.
- Registration with a recognized professional body (HCPC).
Desirable:
- Training in a clinical supervision model.
- Knowledge and experience in research relevant to the position.

- Substantial experience as a psychological therapy practitioner, demonstrating the required competencies.
- Experience working within multi-professional teams or services.
- Experience with older adults facing a range of clinical challenges.
