Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Pediatric Eye Care to join our esteemed team at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. This role is integral to our specialized pediatric unit, where you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional ophthalmic services.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Comprehensive Ophthalmic Service:**
- Provide a thorough ophthalmic service, ensuring high standards of care for pediatric patients.

2. **Service Development:**
- Collaborate with the wider ophthalmology team to enhance and expand our pediatric services.

3. **General Ophthalmology Skills:**
- Maintain proficiency in general ophthalmology, ensuring the ability to address a broad range of eye care needs.

4. **Surgical Expertise:**
- Demonstrate expertise in cataract surgery and a commitment to ongoing training and development.

5. **On-Call Responsibilities:**
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call system for pediatric cases, primarily managing communications during office hours.

6. **Educational Contributions:**
- Engage in teaching responsibilities, contributing to the Postgraduate Medical Education program and mentoring ophthalmic trainees.

7. **Interdisciplinary Training:**
- Support the education and training of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals within the department and across the Trust.

Qualifications:
- Completion of specialty training (or within 6 months of AAC)
