About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our Ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive eye care service to children and adolescents, with a focus on paediatric ophthalmology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality eye care service to children and adolescents, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Participate in teaching and training of junior staff, including medical students and junior doctors.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies within the department.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients.
Requirements
  • FRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of specialty training or within 6 months of AAC.
  • Experience of audit and teaching junior staff.
  • Desirable: MD, PhD, or other higher degree; specialist interest in a specialist area; publications in recognized journals.
