THE ROLE

Leonardo, a prominent global high-tech enterprise in the Aerospace, Defence, and Security sectors, is seeking a Lead Systems Engineering Manager to join our innovative team. This position is integral to the development of advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems for next-generation Combat Aircraft.

As the Lead Systems Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the management and execution of work packages for the EW System solution. Providing strategic engineering leadership and guidance in collaboration with the Project Chief Engineer and Project Engineering Manager. Setting clear expectations for your team regarding Engineering Plans and ensuring adherence to company Policies & Procedures. Collaborating with the Project Engineering Manager to monitor and report on Engineering Plans, including progress, expenditures, risks, and performance metrics. Fostering the growth of your Engineering Team through mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations. Implementing Agile methodologies to promote continuous improvement across project increments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead your system development team throughout the complete product delivery lifecycle using Agile methodologies. Actively mentor and coach Engineers within your team. Ensure thorough planning, budgeting, and scheduling of Engineering activities. Engage with stakeholders to gather and prioritize project requirements. Clearly define and communicate Engineering Plans to your team. Supervise the completion of Engineering plans, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to timelines. Collaborate closely with the Project Chief Engineer to ensure design solutions optimize resource utilization and are robust and producible. Work alongside the Project Chief Engineer to ensure design solutions are compatible with their intended environments and comply with company engineering development processes. Partner with the Project Engineering Manager to identify and mitigate technical risks. Manage project configuration and change control processes. Ensure effective application of the company's Lifecycle Management processes. Establish qualification and acceptance criteria along with design certification. Guarantee compliance with Regulatory and Safety Standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Skills:

Demonstrated experience in engineering management and project delivery. Proficiency in systems engineering and systems integration. Familiarity with Engineering lifecycle processes. Strong leadership skills and competencies. Effective schedule and budget management abilities. Capability to produce clear and concise engineering documentation. Ability to provide direction to teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Self-driven with a strong problem-solving aptitude. Awareness of commercial and business factors.

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of Electronic Warfare systems. Understanding of Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification processes for electronic airborne equipment. Familiarity with airborne and ground-based radar systems. Knowledge of Agile development methodologies. Degree in Engineering or a related scientific field.
