Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Antenna Engineer to join our team at Leonardo. As a key member of our Core Delivery Team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Antenna Engineers and contributing to the development of cutting-edge RF products for airborne platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement technical strategies for the antenna discipline, ensuring alignment with overall system performance.
  • Lead a team of Antenna Engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct technical assessments and modeling of system or subsystem design to ensure compatibility with overall system performance.
  • Generate discipline estimations and project plans for project delivery, working closely with the Chief Antenna Engineer.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day line management of direct reports, including conducting appraisals and managing personal development.
Requirements
  • Degree in a STEM subject (Physics, Mathematics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or other science-based subject).
  • Experience/Education in at least one of the following areas of Electromagnetics: Radio frequency (RF) design, Antenna design/modelling/measurement (including installed antenna design) or Computational Electromagnetic Modelling (CEM).
  • Excellent numerical problem-solving skills and an aptitude for lateral or innovative thinking.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex subjects across a multi-disciplined project team.
  • Demonstrated experience of technical leadership and delivery of complicated engineering work packages.
Desirable Skills
  • Working knowledge of EM modeling tools such as CST Microwave Studio or similar.
  • Scientific programming experience, preferably in MATLAB.
  • Theoretical or practical knowledge of antenna measurements.
  • Measurement experience using standard microwave equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.).
  • Experience of direct line management of engineers, including conducting appraisals and managing personal development of team members.
