Job Title: Project Engineering Lead - Electronic Warfare Systems

Job Summary:

Leonardo is a global leader in the aerospace, defense, and security industry, with a presence in the UK and a team of over 8,000 employees. We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineering Lead to join our Combat Air line of business and lead the development of an Electronic Warfare (EW) System for a 6th generation Combat Aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers to deliver the EW System solution, utilizing Agile development processes.
  • Provide engineering management, direction, and leadership to the team, supported by the Project Chief Engineer and Project Engineering Manager.
  • Develop and implement Engineering Plans, ensuring that the team operates consistently within company policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to elicit and prioritize requirements, and ensure that the Engineering Plans are clearly defined and well communicated to the team.
  • Oversee the completion of the Engineering plans to quality, cost, and schedule, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Control project configuration and change management, and ensure effective implementation of the company's Lifecycle Management process.
  • Agree qualification and acceptance criteria and design certification, and ensure that the design solution maximizes the reuse of existing resources, is producible, and is robust.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in engineering management and delivery of projects, with a strong background in systems engineering and systems integration.
  • Knowledge of engineering lifecycle processes, with a focus on Agile development processes.
  • Strong leadership competencies, with the ability to provide clear direction to teams and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good schedule and budget control, with the ability to produce clear and concise engineering documentation.
  • Self-motivation, with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and commercial and business awareness.

Desirable Skills:

  • Good knowledge of Electronic Warfare systems, with a focus on EW systems for 6th generation Combat Aircraft.
  • Understanding of Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification of electronic airborne equipment.
  • Knowledge of airborne and ground-based radar systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile development processes, with a focus on continuous improvement and incremental delivery.
