Position Overview

As a vital member of our clinical team, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the effective delivery of healthcare services to our patient population. You will operate under the indirect supervision of the clinical staff, executing tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Collaboration with all members of the practice team is essential, and adherence to practice policies and procedures is expected. A flexible approach to your role within the practice is crucial, as you will be working alongside various Multi-Disciplinary Team members (MDT).

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Assisting the practice nurse with health promotion initiatives.
  • Conducting baseline assessments such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rate.
  • Facilitating routine and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring.
  • Performing wound care, dressing changes, and other clinical tasks as required.
  • Supporting the management of chronic disease clinics alongside the practice nurse.
  • Carrying out Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments.
  • Acting as a chaperone when necessary.
  • Performing venepuncture when trained.
  • Administering flu vaccinations once trained.
  • Conducting ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse when trained.
  • Executing electrocardiograms (ECGs) as requested.
  • Ensuring that specimens are accurately recorded and prepared for transportation.
  • Providing assistance during minor surgical procedures as needed.
  • Maintaining adequate stock levels in clinical rooms and preparing them for each session.
  • Regularly cleaning fridges in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Ensuring clinical waste is disposed of properly and sharps bins are replaced according to the practice's infection prevention and control policy.
  • Completing clinical checks to a satisfactory standard as directed by the Lead Nurse.
  • Managing inventory levels of medications and supplies, reordering as necessary.

We cater to a diverse urban and suburban patient base of over 16,500 individuals. Our practice operates from a modern, purpose-built facility that is conveniently located with ample parking. We are in the process of planning a merger to enhance our service delivery.

Additional Responsibilities

In addition to your primary duties, you may also be required to:

  • Participate in practice audits as directed.

  • Complete opening and closing procedures as per the duty roster.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or actively pursuing qualification.
  • Experience in a Primary Care setting.

Desirable

  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Ear syringing certification.
  • Experience working with the public in a healthcare environment.
