Job Objective
Support the management in the procurement of Terminal and Port Services across the European and African regions.

Key Responsibilities and Performance Metrics

Strategy Development and Enhancement

Implement and refine procurement strategies for both Alliance and non-Alliance services in alignment with corporate policies. Ensure the organization benefits from competitive rates and exceptional services through effective leverage. Participate in regular performance assessment meetings with operators related to Terminal and Port Services. Provide insights on EDI recommendations and priority settings.

Procurement of Terminal and Port Services

Coordinate vendor negotiations for Terminal and Port Services in accordance with corporate policies, delivering market intelligence and identifying business opportunities. Manage pricing for Out of Gauge (OOG) Terminal handling. Cultivate ongoing relationships with key vendors and local organizations to balance cost efficiency with service quality. Identify initiatives for cost savings. Finalize contracts and service agreements pertaining to Terminal and Port Services.

Cost Management and Control

Oversee reporting structures and guide efforts towards achieving targeted outcomes. Optimize and communicate the availability of free pools. Identify and report on avoidable expenses. Ensure contractual rebates and incentives are properly documented. Assist in budget management. Monitor key performance indicators for both internal and external stakeholders. Foster a mindset focused on cost avoidance and recovery.

Compliance and Regulations

Ensure all vendor procurement transactions comply with company policies and regulations, including the UK Bribery Act. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of JSOX, ISO14001, and AEO procedures.

Data Management

Collaborate with the Manager and Assistant Manager of Terminal Procurement to manage budgets for all relevant cost elements associated with Terminal and Port Services. Ensure local practices in Europe and Africa align with corporate business requirements.

Maintenance of Internal Systems

Regularly verify the accuracy and validity of data to enable efficient pricing organization, including average cost calculations in collaboration with the Cost Control Coordinator. Update or validate completed Tariff Agreements in the system as required. Maintain Vendor Relationship Management (VRM) records in relevant systems.

Role Scope
Budget Responsibility: No direct budget authority, but expected to be cost-conscious and strive for optimal efficiencies in all aspects of the role.

Team Collaboration

Assist colleagues and foster an environment that empowers everyone to excel. Support team members in achieving personal and team objectives and key performance indicators. Maintain effective relationships with regional and local offices, agents, and vendors as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

Ideally possess a degree or equivalent qualification. A minimum of three years of procurement and operations experience across Europe is preferred. Strong operational and commercial acumen is essential. Ability to build relationships both internally and externally at various levels. Must be analytical and methodical. Teamwork capability is essential. Ability to create, direct, and lead workgroups as necessary.
