As a key member of the Ocean Network Express team, the Procurement Coordinator will play a crucial role in assisting the manager with the procurement of terminal and port services in the Europe and African Region. This position requires a strong understanding of procurement strategies and the ability to execute and enhance them to achieve optimal results.
Key Responsibilities- Strategy Implementation and Optimization
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for Alliance and non-Alliance services based on company policy and directions.
- Ensure the company has access to the best rates and services by maximizing leverage.
- Support and participate in regular performance review meetings with terminal and port services related operators.
- Advise on EDI recommendation/priority setting.
- Terminal and Port Services Procurement
- Coordinate terminal and port services vendor negotiations, provide market intelligence, and identify business opportunities based on company policy and directions.
- Handle OOG terminal handling pricing.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with main vendors and local country organizations to find the best balance between cost optimization and service quality.
- Identify cost-saving initiatives.
- Finalize contracts and service agreements for terminal and port services.
- Cost Control and Management
- Supervise reporting structure and guide team members to work towards appropriate targets.
- Optimize and communicate free pools.
- Identify and report avoidable costs.
- Ensure contractual rebates and incentives are reported.
- Support budget control.
- Monitor KPIs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to a cost avoidance and cost recovery mindset.
- Compliance
- Ensure all transactions related to vendor procurement and control are fully compliant with company rules and regulations.
- Have a full understanding of JSOX, ISO14001, and AEO procedures.
- Scope of Data
- Work with the manager and assistant manager to set budgets for all relevant cost elements related to terminal and port services.
- Monitor local regions' working practices in Europe and Africa to ensure they meet corporate business requirements.
- Maintenance of Internal Company System Tools
- Monitor the correctness and validity of data to enable front-line teams to organize pricing efficiently.
- Update or validate concluded tariff agreements in the system.
- Maintain VRM records in applicable systems.
- Scope of Role
- No direct budget, but expected to be mindful of costs and strive for best efficiencies.

- Three or more years of procurement and operations experience in Europe preferred.
