Key Responsibilities and Performance Metrics

Strategy Development and Enhancement

Implement and refine procurement strategies for both Alliance and non-Alliance services in alignment with corporate policies. Ensure optimal access to competitive rates and services through effective leverage. Participate in regular performance assessment meetings with operators related to Terminal and Port Services. Provide insights on EDI recommendations and priority settings.

Procurement of Terminal and Port Services

Coordinate vendor negotiations for Terminal and Port Services based on corporate policies, offering market intelligence and identifying business opportunities. Manage pricing for Out of Gauge (OOG) Terminal handling. Cultivate ongoing relationships with key vendors and local organizations to balance cost efficiency with service quality. Identify initiatives for cost savings. Finalize contracts and service agreements related to Terminal and Port Services.

Cost Management and Control

Oversee reporting structures and guide teams towards achieving targets. Optimize and communicate the utilization of free pools. Identify and report on avoidable costs. Ensure accurate reporting of contractual rebates and incentives. Support budget management efforts. Monitor key performance indicators for both internal and external stakeholders. Foster a mindset focused on cost avoidance and recovery.

Compliance Assurance

Ensure all vendor procurement transactions comply with company regulations, including the UK Bribery Act. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of JSOX, ISO14001, and AEO procedures.

Data Management

Collaborate with the Manager and Assistant Manager of Terminal Procurement to manage budgets for all relevant cost elements associated with Terminal and Port Services. Ensure local operational practices in Europe and Africa align with corporate business requirements.

Maintenance of Internal Systems

Regularly monitor the accuracy and validity of data to facilitate efficient pricing organization, including average cost calculations in collaboration with the Cost Control Coordinator. Update or validate completed Tariff Agreements in the system as needed. Maintain Vendor Relationship Management (VRM) records in relevant systems.

Role Scope
Budget Responsibility: No direct budget management, but expected to maintain cost awareness and strive for efficiency in all aspects of the role.

Team Collaboration

Assist colleagues and foster an environment that enables everyone to perform at their best. Support team members in achieving personal and team objectives and key performance indicators. Maintain effective relationships with regional and local offices, agents, and vendors as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

A minimum of a degree is preferred. A minimum of three years of procurement and operations experience across Europe is preferred. Strong operational and commercial awareness is essential. Ability to build relationships internally and externally at various levels. Analytical and methodical approach is essential. Ability to work collaboratively within a team is essential. Capable of creating, directing, and leading workgroups as necessary.
