The Board and Leadership team at Charity People is excited to collaborate with a prominent International Human Rights Organization based in the UK.
About the Organization:
Our partner is a global initiative comprising over 10 million individuals dedicated to fostering a future where human rights are universally upheld. United by our common humanity, we believe that the capacity to effect positive change resides within each of us.
The Charitable Trust:
The Trust is looking to expand its Board by adding three new members. In selecting candidates, the emphasis is placed on the ability to function effectively at the Board level rather than on prior experience. The board culture is centered around consensus decision-making rather than majority voting. While professional experience is valuable, lived or grassroots experience is deemed more significant. However, candidates with expertise in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- UK fundraising/Income generation, Philanthropy, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), Trusts and Foundations Grants Management (as either a grant maker or recipient), Diversity and Inclusion.
About the Trustee Role:
As a Trustee, your responsibilities will include ensuring that the Trust effectively pursues its vision and objectives while adhering to its constraints and obligations. The Trust Board holds fiduciary responsibility for the organization and is tasked with upholding its reputation and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upholding the Trust's reputation and ensuring that the organizational culture aligns with its core values.
- Providing leadership, support, and oversight to ensure the organization meets its goals in inclusion, diversity, equity, anti-racism, and feminist leadership, while demonstrating a commitment to these principles.
- Assisting the Chair in the annual objective setting and performance evaluation of the Chief Executive.
Time Commitment:
The Charitable Trust Board typically convenes on Thursday afternoons or early evenings for up to four hours in March, May, and September. Additionally, there are joint training and reflection sessions with the UK Section Board over two days in July and December. There are also two joint Board briefings each year on weekday evenings lasting approximately two hours.
Board members may be invited to participate in a sub-committee, which meets four times a year, usually on weekday afternoons or early evenings.
Beyond meeting attendance and preparation, Board members and sub-committee members are expected to monitor emails for updates and occasional requests. Those with specialized roles (such as Finance or Human Resources) should be reasonably available to provide guidance and support to senior management.
How to Apply:
A Q&A webinar with the charity will be hosted, providing further insights and an opportunity to address any questions you may have. Interested candidates should submit their CVs to receive the recruitment pack and the link to register for the webinar.
Charity People Commitment:
Charity People actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion. We align the needs of charities with the skills and experiences of candidates, regardless of age, disability (including hidden disabilities), gender, gender identity or reassignment, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. We believe that greater diversity leads to even more significant outcomes for the charities we serve.
