Leigh, Wigan, United Kingdom Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity to become a vital member of our dedicated team in the Surgical Day Case Unit. Our patient-focused team is committed to the safe admission of all elective surgical patients and their recovery post-surgery, leading to a smooth discharge process. Our unit encompasses a diverse range of surgical specialties, including ENT, Breast, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Pain Management. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional standards of care, and we are seeking a diligent, dependable, and enthusiastic individual to join our ranks.

We are looking to fill 2 fixed-term positions for a duration of 12 months. The roles will require flexibility to work across a 7-day schedule, from Monday to Sunday.

This opportunity is open to all candidates, both internal and external. Current NHS employees are encouraged to discuss potential secondment arrangements with their managers prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. These roles are established to provide coverage for staff on secondment and maternity leave for a period of 12 months or until the return of the substantive post holders. While these positions are advertised on a temporary basis, there is a possibility that they may transition to permanent roles in the future.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for admitting patients for surgical procedures and delivering comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative nursing care, along with effective discharge planning across a wide array of nursing services. Working alongside a team of seasoned day case nurses and clinicians, you will strive to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care under the guidance of the Ward Leaders. It is essential that you can communicate proficiently with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care is maintained for all patients.
