We are thrilled to announce an opportunity to become a vital member of our dedicated team in the Surgical Day Case Unit. Our patient-focused team is committed to the safe admission of surgical elective patients and their recovery post-surgery, ensuring a smooth transition to discharge. Our unit specializes in various surgical fields, including ENT, Breast, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Pain Management. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care standards, and we are seeking a diligent, dependable, and enthusiastic individual to join our ranks.
We are currently looking to fill two fixed-term positions for a duration of 12 months. The roles will require flexibility to work across a 7-day schedule, from Monday to Sunday.
This opportunity is open to both internal and external applicants. Current NHS employees are encouraged to discuss secondment arrangements with their managers prior to applying, as this will be a prerequisite for any job offer. These roles are fixed-term to provide coverage for staff on secondment and maternity leave, lasting 12 months or until the return of the substantive post holders. While these positions are initially temporary, there is potential for them to transition into permanent roles in the future.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for admitting patients for surgical procedures and providing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative nursing care, alongside effective discharge planning across a diverse range of nursing services. Working collaboratively with a team of skilled day case nurses and clinicians, you will be instrumental in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care under the guidance of Ward Leaders. Effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team is essential to ensure that high standards of care are maintained for all patients.

Main Duties

- Complete patient documentation and maintain accurate records in a timely manner.
- Provide necessary information, including reporting adverse events and incidents to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Collaborate with senior nursing staff and specialists to set, monitor, and evaluate care standards.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team regarding patient care.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of complaints and PALS inquiries.
Qualifications
