Job Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity to become a vital member of our dedicated team within the Surgical Day Case Unit. Our patient-centered approach focuses on the safe admission and recovery of surgical elective patients, ensuring a smooth transition to their discharge.

Our unit encompasses a diverse range of surgical specialties, including ENT, Breast, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Pain Management. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care standards, and we are in search of a diligent, dependable, and enthusiastic individual to enhance our team.

This position is for a 24-hour role, with a work schedule spanning across all seven days of the week.

A key requirement for this position is holding an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care, a BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or a completed Care Certificate that includes the necessary clinical competencies.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will collaborate with the ward team under the guidance of registered practitioners to deliver effective, safe, and patient-focused care consistently. Your contributions will help foster a positive care environment, ensuring that the daily service and care needs of patients and the department are met. You will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of the ward, ensuring that patients, relatives, and caregivers receive friendly and efficient support. Adherence to established policies and guidelines is essential.

Job Duties

  • Performing general nursing tasks and assisting in the setup of clinics.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Supporting the nursing team in delivering high-quality care.
  • Assisting with medical procedures and treatments to prevent patient harm.
  • Documenting patient information accurately (both written and electronic).
  • Participating in staff meetings and contributing to audits.
  • Keeping current with mandatory training requirements.
  • Conducting patient observations.
  • Engaging in the admission and discharge processes.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care / BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care / Completed Care Certificate with required clinical competencies.
  • Proficient numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
