Job Overview

Dove Adolescent Services is dedicated to empowering young individuals in our care, helping them build emotional resilience and reach their full potential across various aspects of their lives. We are currently in search of a Deputy Manager for Residential Children's Services to enhance our operations.

Position Type: Full Time - 39 hours per week

Compensation: Up to £34,068.56 per annum (plus additional compensation for sleep-in duties)

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Manager will assist the registered manager in overseeing the daily operations of the home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. This role is crucial in advocating for the rights of young individuals and providing them with care that aligns with our organizational policies and procedures.

Key duties include:

  • Leading a team of care workers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
  • Contributing to the overall ethos and objectives of the organization.
  • Maintaining accountability to the registered manager and senior management.

Service and Practice Management

  • Developing and implementing high-quality care in accordance with applicable legislation and organizational policies, while promoting equal opportunities and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and providing adequate training for staff.
  • Assisting in record-keeping for both young people and staff, and implementing monitoring systems.
  • Innovating new techniques and approaches to enhance child care services.
  • Participating in and leading various internal and external meetings.
  • Taking on-call responsibilities and covering shifts as needed.
  • Writing clear and evaluative reports and overseeing written communications to maintain required standards.
  • Making decisions in the absence of the registered manager.

Human Resource Oversight

  • Involvement in the recruitment process, ensuring all necessary checks are completed.
  • Supporting the registered manager in staff induction, supervision, and appraisal processes.
  • Facilitating continuous professional development for the team, ensuring compliance with mandatory training.
  • Assisting in maintaining effective staff rotas and managing monthly expenses.
  • Conducting investigations into grievances and disciplinary matters as per organizational policies.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Assisting the registered manager in monitoring the service budget and ensuring financial compliance.
  • Reporting maintenance issues to ensure that the premises and equipment meet operational standards.

External Relations

  • Promoting the organization positively with external agencies and the public.
  • Liaising with referral managers regarding admissions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Passion for delivering high-quality care and education.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children's and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management or willingness to pursue this qualification.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Thorough understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
  • Familiarity with the needs of vulnerable populations.
  • Commitment to high standards of safe working practices.
  • Possession of a current UK driving license or access to suitable transportation.
