Job Overview

We are in search of a Residential Children's Services Deputy Manager to enhance our operations.

Employment Type: Full Time - 39 hours per week

Compensation: Up to £34,068.56 per annum (plus additional sleep-in shifts)

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in assisting the registered manager with the daily operations of the home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. This position is vital in advocating for the rights of young individuals and providing them with exceptional care in line with our policies and procedures.

The role includes:

  • Leading a team of care workers while adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines to achieve positive outcomes for young people in our care.
  • Contributing to the overall mission, values, and objectives of the organization.

Accountability

Directly accountable to the registered manager and the operational leadership team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Service and Care Management

  • Ensure the provision of high-quality care in compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies, integrating an equal opportunities approach and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Maintain adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring all staff are adequately trained and informed.
  • Assist the manager in maintaining accurate records related to young people and staff, implementing effective monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Promote innovative techniques and approaches to childcare within the home, actively participating in the senior management team.
  • Prepare for and lead various internal and external meetings, both in collaboration with the registered manager and independently.
  • On a rotational basis, assume on-call responsibilities and cover sleep-in shifts as necessary.
  • Produce concise and evaluative reports, overseeing all written communications to uphold required standards.
  • Make decisions in the absence of the registered manager.

Human Resource Oversight

  • Participate in the recruitment process, ensuring all necessary checks are completed.
  • Support the registered manager in the induction, supervision, and appraisal of staff in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Assist in addressing the continuous professional development needs of the team, ensuring compliance with mandatory training requirements.
  • Help maintain effective staff rotas and manage monthly expense reports.
  • Conduct investigations into grievances, complaints, and disciplinary matters as per organizational policies.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Support the registered manager in monitoring the service budget and ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Report maintenance issues to ensure the service premises and equipment are compliant with requirements.

External Relations

  • Promote the organization positively with external agencies, professionals, and the public.
  • Liaise with referral managers regarding admissions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Passion for delivering high-quality care and education.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children's and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management or a commitment to complete this qualification.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Thorough understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Awareness of the needs of vulnerable individuals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices.
  • Possession of a current UK driving license or access to suitable transportation.
