The Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology position is based in the Imperial College Children's Blood and Marrow unit at St Mary's Hospital, a leading centre for blood and marrow transplantation in non-malignant haematological disorders.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all paediatric haematology patients, including those undergoing a stem cell transplant and their donors, complex haemoglobinopathy patients, patients with bone marrow failure, shared care oncology patients, and patients with immune cytopenias.
The post-holder will share in the day-to-day management of all Paediatric Haematology inpatients, day-care review patients, performing procedures such as bone marrow examination and bone marrow harvests (after training and with supervision).
About the RoleThis post offers a unique opportunity to gain expertise in paediatric haematology alongside gaining experience in a related aspect such as research, procedures, or management.
The post-holder will participate in a Full Shift working pattern exclusively for Paediatric Haematology, in a 1 in 6 rota with no night on calls.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications
- On GMC register/licensed Medical Practitioner
- MRCPCH or MRCP Part 2 or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
- Higher degree, ie MD/PhD
Experience
- On training scheme in Paediatrics or Haematology or eligible to apply for one
Clinical Skills
- Experience of working as middle grade in paediatrics or haematology
Audit
- Evidence of involvement in and understanding of principles of clinical governance
- Clinical practice consistent with GMC guidelines on 'Good medical practice'
- Experience of clinical audit, to include more than one completed project
