About the Role

The Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology will be based in the Imperial College Children's Blood and Marrow unit at St Mary's Hospital, a leading centre for blood and marrow transplantation in non-malignant haematological disorders.

The post provides exposure to all aspects of paediatric haematology and transplantation, allowing significant time for gaining experience in performing clinical procedures, audits, and leadership experience according to the applicant's needs.

The Clinical Fellow will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of all paediatric haematology patients, including those undergoing a stem cell transplant and their donors, complex haemoglobinopathy patients, patients with bone marrow failure, shared care oncology patients, and patients with immune cytopenias.

Main Responsibilities

The post-holder will share in the day-to-day management of all Paediatric Haematology inpatients, day-care review patients, performing procedures such as bone marrow examination and bone marrow harvests (after training and with supervision).

The Clinical Fellow will participate in a Full Shift working pattern exclusively for Paediatric Haematology, in a 1 in 6 rota with no night on calls. The rota is fully compliant with the Junior doctors contracts (2002 and 2016) as well as with the EWTD.

Person Specification

Essential

  • On GMC register/licensed Medical Practitioner
  • MRCPCH or MRCP Part 2 or equivalent

Desirable

  • Higher degree, ie MD/PhD
  • Track record of ethical research experience relevant to haematology/stem cell transplantation
  • PICU, HDU, A&E, paediatric subspeciality experience
  • APLS Provider Experience of laboratory haematology reporting
