Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology Position

About the Role
The Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Haematology will be based in the Imperial College Children's Blood and Marrow unit at St Mary's Hospital, a leading centre for blood and marrow transplantation in non-malignant haematological disorders.
The post provides exposure to all aspects of paediatric haematology and transplantation, allowing significant time for gaining experience in performing clinical procedures, audits, and leadership experience according to the applicant's needs.
The post will be for one year, but may be extended for a further year. The fellowship is suitable for post-CCT haematology or paediatric trainees or paediatric/haematology trainees in the earlier stages of their training who have completed MRCPCH or equivalent.
Main Responsibilities
The post-holder will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of all paediatric haematology patients, including those undergoing a stem cell transplant and their donors, complex haemoglobinopathy patients, patients with bone marrow failure, shared care oncology patients, and patients with immune cytopenias.
The post-holder will share in the day-to-day management of all Paediatric Haematology inpatients, day-care review patients, performing procedures such as bone marrow examination and bone marrow harvests (after training and with supervision).

Working Arrangements
The post holder will participate in a Full Shift working pattern exclusively for Paediatric Haematology, in a 1 in 6 rota with no night on calls. The rota is fully compliant with the Junior doctors contracts (2002 and 2016) as well as with the EWTD.

Essential
- On GMC register/licensed Medical Practitioner
- MRCPCH or MRCP Part 2 or equivalent
Desirable
- Higher degree, ie MD/PhD

- On training scheme in Paediatrics or Haematology or eligible to apply for one

- PICU, HDU, A&E, paediatric subspeciality experience
Clinical Skills

- Experience of working as middle grade in paediatrics or haematology

- APLS Provider Experience of laboratory haematology reporting

- Evidence of involvement in and understanding of principles of clinical governance
- Clinical practice consistent with GMC guidelines on 'Good medical practice'
- Experience of clinical audit, to include more than one completed project
