Genetic Counsellor

We are seeking an experienced Genetic Counsellor to join our team at the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine. This is a six-month post to cover a sabbatical vacancy, providing an excellent opportunity for an overseas candidate to gain experience in the UK.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will contribute to our clinical services in urgent prenatal, cancer, or general genetic counselling. They will work independently in genetic counsellor clinics, manage genetic registers, and participate in peripheral clinics, pre-natal/urgent referral work, and supervision or teaching of other staff members.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality genetic counselling and testing for a wide variety of conditions
- Participate in our urgency rota to provide genetic counselling in demanding situations
- Contribute to supervision or teaching of other staff members
- Undertake a range of genetic counsellor duties, including independent genetic counsellor clinics and genetic register work
We have a strong commitment to education and training, with opportunities for CPD through internal seminars and lectures, as well as access to external education and training. Our team is active in translational research, clinical trials, and promotes research in our genetic counselling team.
