Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior School Nurse Leader to join our team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing holistic health assessments and advice to vulnerable children and their families, while also leading on cases for safeguarding and promoting a high uptake of immunization programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments and interventions to address unmet health needs and improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families using a trauma-informed approach, taking into account Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) that may impact their health.
  • Lead on cases for safeguarding, including Children in Need of Protection, A&E referrals, and other vulnerable children, applying professional curiosity where necessary.
  • Provide advice, support, and professional challenge at multi-agency meetings.
  • Work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team and statutory and voluntary agencies to plan, deliver, and evaluate care to improve outcomes for service users.
  • Promote a high uptake of immunization programs and administer vaccinations as required.
  • Maintain accurate, factual, and contemporaneous records in line with NMC guidelines and local policy.
Requirements
  • BSc in Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) qualification
  • Skills for teaching and assessing in clinical practice (ENB 998/FLAP or equivalent)
  • Child Protection training above foundation level
  • Evidence of continued Professional Development
  • NMC registration at level 1 and 3
