An exceptional opportunity is available for adaptable, dependable, and highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to become part of our School Immunisation Team.
The Immunisation Team operates in diverse environments, including educational institutions, health clinics, and community locations, to implement national routine childhood immunisation initiatives for school-aged children and adolescents.
The ideal candidates will exhibit enthusiasm, vigor, and a commitment to providing optimal care, along with a foundational understanding of the childhood immunisation schedule. This role necessitates effective time management and IT proficiency, with the expectation to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
We are seeking individuals who can adjust their schedules to accommodate the needs of the service, which may include occasional evening and weekend shifts.
Newly qualified nurses are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of this role is to assist the Head of School Immunisations in managing the seamless delivery of the Commissioned BCG Programme and School Immunisation Programmes to children and young people aged 0-19 and their families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Actively participating in the development and coordination of health promotion initiatives aimed at school-aged children to enhance participation in the school-based immunisation programme.
- Supporting the execution of community BCG clinics as necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records with a focus on the child during all assessments and actions, adhering to Public Health Nursing Service guidelines and clinical record-keeping policies.
- Proactively identifying risk factors and signs of child abuse, acting in accordance with organizational protocols and safeguarding standards.
- Collaborating with local schools, the Child in Care Team, and Social Care to ensure that vulnerable children and those with complex health needs receive their vaccinations.
- Providing guidance to other services and agencies, ensuring timely referrals and appropriate consent.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Post-registration experience working with children, young people, or families in a community setting.
