Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rotational Cancer and Aseptic Services Pharmacist to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering innovative treatments for our cancer patients and transforming the NHS Pharmacy Aseptic service.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient-focused pharmacy services to both outpatients and inpatients, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless care. You will also be involved in the aseptic preparation and release of high-risk injectable or infusional products, maintaining a high quality, safe, and efficient level of service delivery through the management of the Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS) and efficiency savings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen and dispense intrathecal injections according to Trust and National Guidance.
  • Liaise with Oncology and Haematology teams regarding chemotherapy treatments and provide clinical support as required.
  • Work with the Accountable Pharmacist to ensure, maintain, and develop facilities, equipment, and work practices to achieve the highest technical standards.
  • Act as an Authorised Pharmacist and supervise day-to-day preparation of products and release for use in accordance with local, regional, and national guidelines.
  • Ensure Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit operates in accordance with current legislation and guidance, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's Degree in Pharmacy, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and a strong background in clinical pharmacy services. Experience in oncology and haematology, as well as aseptic services, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
