Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom Connect Health Group Limited Full time

Job Overview

-Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialized psychological evaluations and therapeutic interventions (both group and individual). The assessments and treatments should align with evidence-based psychological methodologies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), third wave therapies, and other psychological frameworks. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy will be the primary therapeutic model utilized within our services.

-Effectively connect with patients who may present with complex psychological needs, including issues of disbelief, anger, or mistrust. The successful candidate will need exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities to convey and receive intricate, sensitive, and potentially contentious information; and to navigate significant barriers to acceptance, including hostile or highly emotional situations.

-Deliver specialized psychological interventions to patients under the care of the pain management service, aiming to facilitate acceptance of and adjustment to their conditions; enhance psychological flexibility to manage pain effectively; alleviate patient distress, anxiety, and depression; optimize self-management strategies; and improve overall health-related quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

This role presents an exciting opportunity to serve as a psychological therapist within a collaborative pain management team. You will conduct specialized psychological assessments, develop formulations, and implement interventions as part of a multidisciplinary pain management team, catering to individuals, groups, and through e-health platforms. There may also be opportunities to mentor other team members.

Your expertise, experience, and exceptional skills will be utilized to provide guidance and consultation on the psychological aspects of pain management to other healthcare professionals, as well as to enhance the knowledge and practice of psychological theories and principles among students and colleagues.

You will actively contribute to fostering a positive and dynamic culture and will play a crucial role in building productive relationships with key stakeholders. Registration with BABCP as a CBT Therapist is required, along with experience in a physical health environment delivering both individual and group interventions. A solid understanding of the current evidence base regarding psychological approaches to pain management is preferred. We are particularly interested in candidates who are enthusiastic and possess a strong interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
