Our client, a prominent metal stockholder and processor in the Stockport region, is on the lookout for a proactive and enthusiastic Inventory Management Specialist / Junior Procurement Officer to become part of their team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage order placements, track progress, and follow up on deliveries with vendors, port representatives, and transport companies.
  • Receive incoming goods, document electronic records, and handle necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the inventory management system.
  • Oversee the supply chain and anticipated delivery schedules of products.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with all suppliers.
  • Identify specialized suppliers and negotiate pricing within the company's established parameters.
  • Supervise subcontractors and other visitors on-site.
  • Collaborate with and support various departments within the organization.
  • Assist in maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance product supply and purchasing management.
  • Provide assistance to other areas of the department as needed and support inventory audits.
  • Perform general procurement administrative tasks.
  • Work with the Line Manager to resolve complex issues and discrepancies efficiently.
  • Execute steel procurement tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Coordinate closely with inter-departmental teams, such as sales, finance, and operations, to meet quality assurance and customer service objectives.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and training sessions aimed at continuous performance improvement.
  • Ensure personal and colleague health and safety is prioritized in all actions.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, safeguarding the organization's interests at all times.

Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic, self-driven, and eager to learn all facets of the role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage professionally and build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in administration.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to achieving collective goals.
  • Capable of working independently and using initiative.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Numerate with a solid educational background, ideally with a minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Mathematics and English, and 2 A Levels (preferred).
