This year marks a significant achievement as they prepare to rehome their one-millionth hen.

They are seeking a Volunteer & Operations Manager to become part of their enthusiastic team.

This is an exciting time as they initiate a groundbreaking campaign and rehoming event.

Location: Hybrid (Remote/Various UK Locations)
Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 pro rata (based on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (1 in 3 weekends required, with a day off in lieu provided)
Benefits: include 28 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing to 33 days with service. Additional perks include a company pension, an Employee Assistance Programme, and a supportive culture with opportunities for development.

The Role:

As the Volunteer & Operations Manager, you will oversee a vibrant team of 6 and a committed volunteer network of over 1,400 individuals, ensuring the effective execution of their rehoming and volunteer initiatives. Your creative strategies will contribute to saving thousands of hens from slaughter weekly and enhancing the lives of numerous individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and empower the volunteer network, ensuring they possess the necessary resources and skills to thrive. You will oversee the efficient operation of volunteer-related activities, addressing challenges and fostering high engagement.
  • Operational Oversight: Supervise the logistics of rehoming operations, from farm depopulation to rehoming, ensuring all procedures are welfare-friendly and efficient. Collaborate closely with volunteers and the broader team to uphold high standards.
  • Communication: Work alongside the Communications & Marketing teams to devise effective strategies that keep volunteers informed and engaged. Ensure that volunteers are well-acquainted with the charity's mission and available opportunities.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management, focusing on operational metrics, volunteer feedback, and areas for improvement.

We are looking for a proactive individual with a strong commitment to animal welfare and substantial experience in volunteer management. Operational expertise is essential, with the ability to oversee and enhance processes for smooth and efficient operations. Experience in leading geographically dispersed teams and strategic thinking is crucial.
