They advocate for hen welfare, engage with the industry, and lead educational and mental wellbeing initiatives on a global scale. This year marks a significant milestone as they approach the rehoming of their one-millionth hen.

They are currently seeking a Volunteer and Operations Coordinator to become a vital part of their enthusiastic team.

This is an exciting time as they embark on a pioneering campaign and rehoming initiative.

Location: Hybrid (Remote/Various UK Locations)

Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 pro rata (dependent on experience)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (1 in 3 weekends required, with a day off in lieu provided)

Benefits: include 28 days of annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing to 33 days with service. Additional perks include a company pension, an Employee Assistance Programme, and a supportive culture with opportunities for professional development.

The Role:

As the Volunteer and Operations Coordinator, you will oversee a vibrant team of 6 and a committed volunteer network of over 1,400 individuals, ensuring the effective functioning of their rehoming and volunteer programs. Your creative strategies will enable them to continue rescuing thousands of hens from slaughter each week while enhancing the lives of numerous individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, and empower their volunteer community, ensuring they possess the necessary resources and skills to thrive. You will manage the smooth execution of volunteer-related activities, addressing challenges and fostering high engagement.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the logistics of their rehoming operations, from farm depopulation to rehoming, ensuring all procedures are welfare-friendly and efficient. You will collaborate closely with volunteers and the broader team to uphold high standards.
  • Effective Communication: Work alongside their Communications & Marketing teams to devise strategies that keep volunteers informed and engaged. You will ensure that volunteers are well-acquainted with BHWT's mission and available opportunities.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management, focusing on operational metrics, volunteer feedback, and areas for improvement.

Candidate Profile:

They are looking for a proactive individual with a strong commitment to animal welfare and substantial experience in volunteer management. Operational expertise is crucial, with the ability to oversee and enhance processes for smooth and efficient operations. Experience in leading geographically dispersed teams and a talent for strategic thinking are essential. Key attributes include empathy, resilience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

What They Provide:

  • Opportunity to work with the UK's first and largest hen welfare charity
  • Engagement in innovative campaigns and rehoming initiatives
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working arrangements
  • An additional day off on your birthday

Are you ready to contribute to a team that is not only making a difference but also setting global benchmarks?
