We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Personal Assistant to provide comprehensive support to the Deputy Head of Department.

This is a permanent part-time position, and we would like the successful candidate to be based in the office most of the week. However, we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements with the right candidate.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality office administration and executive support to the Deputy Head of Department, working closely with the Executive Assistant to the Head of Department on academic recruitment, probation, and career development reviews.

This is a demanding and pivotal role that requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. The successful candidate will have a good level of education, preferably to degree level, and significant experience as a Personal Assistant, as well as experience of working with senior members of staff.

Excellent IT skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills are essential, as are excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, resilient, and proactive, with a commitment to high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Deputy Head of Department, including office administration and executive support.
  • Work closely with the Executive Assistant to the Head of Department on academic recruitment, probation, and career development reviews.
  • Manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the department and across the university.

Requirements:

  • Good level of education, preferably to degree level.
  • Significant experience as a Personal Assistant.
  • Experience of working with senior members of staff.
  • Excellent IT skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
