Position Overview

This role is essential within the Ministry of Defence, where the successful candidate will join a dedicated team responsible for the upkeep of tactical watercraft. As a Marine Craft Maintenance Specialist, you will be stationed at a key facility, ensuring that our amphibious capabilities remain at peak operational readiness for both training and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

The Marine Craft Maintenance Specialist will be tasked with:

  • Maximizing the use of available resources, including time, to identify and implement efficiency improvements in maintenance processes.
  • Ensuring all maintenance actions and equipment handling within the facility adhere to established protocols and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate records for inspection purposes.
  • Staying updated on current regulations to ensure compliance and high standards in all operational activities.
  • Proactively managing inventory by anticipating needs and ordering necessary components to maintain operational readiness.
  • Conducting regular audits of equipment and supplies, addressing any discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensuring all deployed equipment is accompanied by the required documentation, completed accurately by users.
  • Completing all mandatory training as outlined by the Ministry of Defence and maintaining up-to-date certifications.

Essential Qualifications

  • A valid UK driving license (Category B) for transporting equipment as needed.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with small boat workshop operations.
  • Understanding of technical manuals and maritime engineering support.
  • Certifications such as Forklift Operator and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
