Position Overview

This role is essential for maintaining the operational readiness of the Amphibious Life Support Equipment (ALSE) at Hamworthy Barracks, ensuring that all equipment is in optimal condition for both training and deployment. The successful candidate will join the dive store team, taking responsibility for the upkeep, inspection, and compliance of all ALSE, pumps, compressors, gauges, and related tools and testing apparatus utilized within the Unit and in various operational settings.

This is a unique opportunity within Hamworthy Barracks that promises a rewarding and challenging work environment. Ideal candidates will be proactive, diligent, and able to collaborate effectively within a small, dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

The Amphibious Equipment Specialist will:

  • Ensure that all operational ALSE adheres to the established servicing schedules, guaranteeing that equipment is available in a fully operational state and complies with all relevant regulations.
  • Utilize technical expertise and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues across various equipment types, ensuring uninterrupted functionality during training and exercises.
  • Maintain readiness of all ALSE equipment, including portable and fixed compressors, ensuring they are fully serviced and operational at all times.
  • Coordinate the testing of associated ALSE tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with current legislation and proper documentation.
  • Participate in regular refresher training as directed by the lead technician.
  • Oversee the management of inventory, including stocktaking and ordering, to ensure timely availability of servicing packs.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation for military and civilian audits related to the responsibilities outlined above.

  • Hands-on experience in technical roles, with a willingness to undertake travel for training and exercises.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating motivation, efficiency, and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Basic proficiency in written English, mathematics, and IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.

Essential Qualifications

  • A collaborative mindset, capable of integrating into a mixed civilian and military workforce.
  • Technical aptitude, with a willingness to pursue necessary training and qualifications.
  • A valid UK driving license.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with dive workshop operations.
  • Understanding of equipment manuals and basic engineering principles.
