Assistant Development Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Development Manager to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our Affordable Homes business, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of new business opportunities across the South of England.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Senior Development Manager in the sourcing, appraisal, and contracting of s106 and package deal opportunities.
  • Contributing to the development pipeline across the region, working closely with the Finance and Operations team.
  • Prospecting new business opportunities, appraising schemes, and negotiating contracts with developers and house builders.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including Local Authority, Homes England, and Building Regulations.
  • Managing negotiations with developers and house builders to secure contracts that meet our investment parameters.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of compliant bids and grant claims.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Local knowledge of the social housing and residential sectors, with a strong understanding of development, housing management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with developers and house builders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to appraise schemes and identify opportunities for growth.
  • A self-driven entrepreneurial spirit, with a willingness to take calculated risks and drive business growth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, with a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration.
